Jakarta – the Capitol and economic and political center of Java

Learn about the influence of the Portuguese and Dutch eras in Old Batiavia. Visit Monas and hear of Indonesia’s rich religious heritage. At “Taman Mini Indonesia Indah” you will see a miniature Indonesia floating in a lake, and tour exhibits of each cultural group of this diverse island nation. Then encounter the amazing animals of the archipelago in “Taman Safari.”

Yogyakarta

Here we enjoy the cultural center of Java; seeing palaces, Hindu temples, Ngasem bird market, ancient Mataram empire ruins, and theatre . See the sun outlining Borobudur , the largest monument in the southern hemisphere.

Bali

Then we will fly to the neighboring island, beautiful Bali, the heart of the Balinese-Hindu culture. Visit temples, artisan villages, and cultural dances. Dive into exciting water sports or rest on beautiful ocean beaches.

Meet the Guides

Ross Tatterson

Mr. Ross Naylor Tatterson

Ross has many years of experience leading educational tours through Indonesia for Australian students. He is well versed in Indonesia’s diverse historical, political, and cultural heritage. Ross is the Director of the Indonesian Partnership and lived and worked in the Jakarta area for several years. He has also helped with development projects in several local communities, and will bring us alongside people and areas of need.

Loudy Posumah

Mr. Loudy Posumah

Loudy was Indonesia’s National Director of Youth With a Mission (YWAM) for over 20 years. YWAM is a non-profit foundation with work around the world and Loudy was responsible for more than 500 full-time volunteer workers. Loudy is now working full-time with the Vineyard movement, overseeing work in ten different provinces. The scope of the Vineyard is quite broad, but some of the main foci are:

  1. caring for the poor – operating orphanages and feeding programs across the nation
  2. raising up indigenous community leaders
  3. empowering people to rise above their socially or economically depressed situations

Mr. Posumah and his wife, Liu, live in and run an orphanage and school outside of Jakarta which houses more than 120 orphans. Loudy brings his knowledge and love of his nation to our tour and will make connections to many service opportunities.
